Barley is a versatile and nutritious grain ideal for animal feed, offering several benefits:
Highly Digestible: Lacking the sharp awns (beards) found in traditional barley, beardless barley is easier for animals to eat and digest, reducing the risk of mouth and throat irritation.

  • Fiber-Rich: Packed with fiber, it promotes healthy digestion and gut health in livestock.
  • Energy Source: Provides a steady supply of carbohydrates, supporting energy levels and growth.
  • Moderate Protein Content: Offers a balanced amount of protein, suitable for promoting muscle development and overall health.

Ideal for cattle, horses, sheep, and other livestock, Beardless Barley is a safe, palatable, and nutritious feed option that supports digestion, energy, and general well-being.

*Cost of 1000 and 2000 pound bags includes a $15 refundable tote fee.

What kind of variety is right for you?

The variety you choose depends entirely on your animals. Typically, smaller animals will like cracked or fine milled, as it's easier to digest. When in doubt, we recommend going with cracked!

Check out an example of corn below, along with a few more details.

Whole grains contain the entire grain kernel, including the bran, germ, and endosperm, providing more nutrients and fiber.

Cracked grains are broken into smaller pieces but still include all parts of the grain, making them slightly easier to digest.

Fine-milled grains are ground into a powder, resulting in a finer texture but with fewer nutrients than whole or cracked grains.
